Welcome to Sligo International Choral Festival 2012 Cead Mile Failte! A Hundred Thousand Welcomes - to the 24TH Annual SLIGO INTERNATIONAL CHORAL FESTIVAL from November 8th - 11th 2012.
We are delighted that THE SLIGO CHAMPION and FAILTE IRELAND have come on board again as our major commercial sponsors and the organising committee look forward to working with them again this year.
We are also indebted to The Arts Council, Sligo Borough Council and Sligo County Council for their financial assistance, not forgetting our ever-loyal and generous local sponsors, patrons and advertisers.
Following the success of the workshops last year, we will repeat these again in November with the Adult Choirs Workshop on the Thursday night and the Schools/Youth Choirs workshops on the Friday morning.
Our competition venues, once again, will be THE MERCY COLLEGE and the nearby ST.ANNE’S CHURCH as well as The Sligo Park Hotel. We are really excited about the introduction of 2 new competitions this year – Sacred Music for authentic Church Choirs
and BEST OVERALL CHOIR OF THE FESTIVAL.
We will continue with much the same format as in 2011, with The Official Opening and Concert on Friday night.The organising committee are presently organising other fringe events. We will repeat the very successful Sunday afternoon Lunch and Cabaret and we
look forward to the return of THE BUGLE BABES who proved such a big hit last year. No doubt, many choirs will entertain shoppers on the Saturday and will enhance the various religious services on the Sunday morning.
We look forward to welcoming participating choirs from Mainland and Eastern Europe as well as those from the U.K. and from all parts of Ireland, North and South.
